Mark your calendar as the second annual sweets and treats ‘bake sale’ at Faith Lutheran Church Port Elgin and fundraising concert by ‘Makin Waves’ is about to happen on October 30th.
Last year, Makin’ Waves celebrated its 25th Anniversary and, this year, is embarking on its 26th year of making music. The group of dedicated women, under the direction of founder and conductor Pat Bowers, has been performing a wide variety of music from the Beatles to musical theatre and folksongs in the exquisite blend of voices more widely known as ‘barbershop style’ singing, or ‘A cappella’ style, which is singing without instrumental accompaniment.
The FUNdraising event on October 30th begins again with the decadent and delectably delicious bake sale from 6:00 p.m. – 6:45 a.m. with the concert at 7:00 p.m. [baked goods are held until after the concert].
Following the hour of toe-tapping, hand-clapping and simple enjoyment of the music, everyone is invited to enjoy light refreshments of coffee/tea and snacks and the chance to mingle with the singers.
