The results are in and a design has been chosen for both the Port Elgin and Southampton water towers. The towers will each feature the Saugeen Shores logo with the name of the community (Port Elgin or Southampton) below. The design (Option B) was chosen through an online community poll which provided three options to vote on.
“This contest was a lot of fun and gave residents the opportunity to have their say,” says Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “Everyone was really engaged on social media, and I am happy that so many chose to participate.”
The poll saw 1,833 votes cast – including 565 for A, 785 for B, and 483 for C. Town staff noted some public suggestions for minor adjustments to spacing for the final designs, which are scheduled to be painted on the towers prior to fall of 2021.
