I recently attended the District C Spring Convention at Owen Sound Branch 006. A lot of good information was received in the many reports by the Presidents and District Chairs.
Approximately $251,905 was raised by the Branches for various Legion initiatives. It just goes to show what we can do when we all work together as a team.
Team Port Elgin donated $9,200 to the convention floor for the various programs which the Legion supports. However, things at Branch 340 are not going that well.
At our General Meeting where elections were held we only had 16 members attend and nine Executive members. No new members volunteered to step up for a position on the Executive. Fortunately, last year’s entire Executive stayed on for one more year, even though there were some who would have liked to retire after many years of service and we are still short one Executive member. I thank the Executive for staying one more year.
Without volunteers we cannot raise funds for our veterans and our community. I ask you to consider helping with our programs namely Youth Ed, Poppy, Bingo, Friday BBQ, Hall Rentals and any other events that may come up in the future.
Without volunteers we will not be able to continue to give the great support we have given to our veterans and community in the past. Please come in to the Branch and ask the question…what can I do to help?
