The Callwood award, presented in June and named after esteemed journalist and community advocate June Callwood, was presented to Tomori in recognition of her leadership roles, innovation, and other contributions to the Marine Heritage Society and preservation of the marine heritage of the community of Southampton (ON).

The June Callwood award recognized Vicki’s significant contribution to our community and as a long-time leader of the Marine Heritage Society,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau.  “A founding member of the Society since 1997, she has been instrumental to the organization’s success and still conducts hands-on daily activities to support Chantry Island tours, Pioneer Park and the weekly Artisans and Tastes Market held throughout the summer.”

Wayne Kaufman, Chairman of the Marine Heritage Society says that, “Vicki is a force of nature from her foundational role over 25 years ago to her teamwork today, she continues to advance the Marine Heritage Society through her collaboration, engaging the public, fundraising, working with other community groups and much more.”

“Saugeen Shores Council thanks Vicki for her exceptional volunteerism,” added Mayor Charbonneau as he presented her with a Certificate of Recognition and award.

“Winning this prestigious award is very humbling,” said Tomori.  “It’s been privilege to work with my colleagues for the past 27 years and I can only hope we can keep up the momentum.”
