It’s obvious that women’s senior hockey is on the move in Saugeen Shores as the new team, the Gulls take to the ice.
The recently formed senior women’s team, for those 22-years-of-age and older, had more than 40 players try out along with eight goalies. Now, the team has three full lines and two goalies.
The team recently received their new jerseys at a reception held at Three Sheets Brewery.

Thanks to its four sponsors, Three Sheets Brewery, Chris Solomon Plumbing & Reno, Jess-Don Dunford Ltd. of Guelph and Launch Custom Homes, the team is now ready to play.
Spokesperson, Katie Myatt, said that it has been remarkable to see the growth in girls’ hockey in the community. “We have teams in the Novice to Midget girls and all teams are maxed out. We now have the largest OWHA growth in the region.”
The newly formed Gulls will be playing in five tournaments in January, February, March and April, with a goal to go to the Provincials. February will see the team play two home games.
Although starting out as a BB team, the Gulls competed in their first tournament against the Sr. A team in the WGHA (Whitby Girls Hockey Association) December 6th – 8th. (results to come in).
The first exciting home game at the Plex in Saugeen Shores takes place on December 28th at 3:30 p.m.
