Saugeen Shores Gulls come out on top at Tournament of Heroes

The new Senior Women’s hockey team, the Saugeen Shores Gulls, demonstrated that they are a team to be reckoned with as they came out undefeated at the recent Tournament of Heroes A Division held in Whitby over the weekend.

The newly formed team began Friday evening, December 6th, by defeating the Whitby Wolves Sr. Women with a close score of 2 to 1.

Then, the next day Saturday afternoon, they faced the Brampton Canadettes and came in at a solid 5 – 0 to continue their undefeated streak.

That night, they went on to play the Scarborough Sharks but the Sharks were no match for the Gulls who swooped in to win with a close score of 3 – 2.

Sunday morning, it was time to again face the Brampton Canadettes and, once again, the Gulls left no doubt as to who was the better team winning 4 – 0.

Finally, on Sunday afternoon, they again came up against the host team again, the Whitby Wolves, to win their final game 3 – 1, and remain as undefeated champions throughout the tournament.

The close scores attest to Goalie, Arenn Osadzuk being outstanding in net.

The Gulls will again take to the ice on December 28th for their first home game at the Plex in Port Elgin at 3:30, where they hope that fans will turn out to see some great hockey.
