STFC athletes going on to Provincials

Saugeen Track and Field Club (STFC) athletes continue to excel in their fields and as a result of the recent Legion sponsored competitions held in Kincardine on June 22nd, 16 athletes will be going on to  represent local District C Legion at the Ontario Royal Canadian Legion Track and Field Championships being held in Brampton on July 12th and 13th.

Athletes at the District C Legion meet held in Kincardin had to medal in multiple events to even be considered for selection to the team.

The following STFC athletes have been invited to represent District C:

Harley Martin shows her winning style throwing a 31.53M

Girls 15 and under: Michelle Van Stuyvenberg – Discus, Hammer; Harley Martin – Discus,  Javelin, Shot Put; Avery Oestreicher – High Jump, Long Jump; Claire Rands – 800m, 1200m; Grace Wheeler – 1500m Steeplechase, 2000m,

Brooklyn Quanz has been added to the District C team to compete in 15 and under girls 1200m, 2000m and javelin.

Girls 17 and under: Billie Martin – Hammer, Shot Put; Hanna Van Stuyvenberg – Discus, Hammer; Ana Morariu – 1500m, 3000m; Emily Bryce – 1500m, 3000m

Boys 15 and under: Ben Brewer – Shot Put, Discus; Luke Jacklin – Discus, Javelin; Tristan Bouis – 1200m, 2000m.

Boys 17 and under: Jeremy Elliott – Shot Put, Hammer, Discus; Ryan Jacklin – Shot Put, Hammer, Discus; Liam Fitzgerald – 1500m, 3000m

“All athletes competing in Brampton will be striving for a spot on the Ontario team heading to Sydney, Nova Scotia in the first week of August,” says coach Randy Millar. “Only 40 athletes total, across 60 events and 4 age classes, will be selected to the prestigious Ontario team.”
