
STFC athletes competed against the best track and field athletes in the country at the Canadian U20, Senior and Para Track and Field Championships held in Montreal July 24-28.
Josh Farrell won silver in the Para Ambulatory Shot Put. His 14.22m performance was a personal best and a new Canadian record for the F20 category. His efforts earned him selection to the Canadian team competing in the World Para Championships this fall in Doha, Qatar.In 2015, he won the Gold medal in F20 Shot Put at the 2015 ParaPan Games in Toronto on
Monday night, August 10th and broke the new Americas’ Record.
Rick currently holds the Canadian and World Records at 160cm.Carr, who is blind, lost his eyesight as a young man but continued to perform as an athlete as he had through school. Through the STFC, Carr went on to become a world class Paralympian winning National medals. In 2008, he was reclassified and allowed to run with a guide runner, Evan Porter. As a runner, Porter, set records his own records throughout school participating in Ontario Conference Championships and National Championships.

When the duo teamed up however, there was no stopping them and they became formidable in track. With his guide, Carr went on to win gold medals in high jump, long jump and, in 2010, won three golds at the National Paralympic Games, gold in the long jump in 2012 and in 2014 won two gold medals at the National Paralympic Championships in New Brunswick. In 2015, Carr and guide Eva Porter were inducted into the Saugeen Shores Hall of Fame.
