Vehicles stolen from Grey Highlands recovered

Three individuals are facing charges after a building was broken into and three vehicles were stolen from a municipal property in Grey Highlands.

On July 7, 2024, at 6:47 a.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report that three Grey Highlands Municipality vehicles were stolen from a property in Grey Highlands. It was determined that the suspects gained access to the building through the main doors and gained access to keys to the vehicle. The vehicles had a GPS tracking system equipped and the complainant was able to track the vehicles to a property on Story Book Park Road in the Municipality of Meaford.

Police arrested two individuals at the scene.

A 35-year-old male of South Bruce was charged with the following:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (two counts)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking

A 50-year-old male of Georgian Bluffs was charged with the following:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (two counts)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine

On July 7, 2024, at 8:36 a.m., the complainant advised police that they were GPS tracking their third stolen vehicle which was in Amaranth. The Dufferin County attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle at which the vehicle fled. A short time later, Wellington OPP located the vehicle in Hillsburgh and arrested one individual.

A 39-year-old female of Grey Highlands was charged with the following:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Flight from peace officer

The accused parties were held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.

On July 9, 2024, the police received further information and as a result, the female was arrested and released for the following:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (two counts)
  • Mischief over $5000
  • Trespassing at night
  • Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on August 8, 2024.
