Recent King Charles III medal recipient, Pat O’Connor was also honoured by the Town of Saugeen Shores when he was presented with a Certificate of Recognition by Mayor Luke Charbonneau.

Mayor Charbonneau pointed out that the King Charles III medal is only presented to 30,000 individuals across Canada and that it highlights the impact that O’Connor has made through his volunteerism and community involvement.
“Pat has long been a pillar of our community,” added the Mayor, “as a Rotarian and his tireless volunteerism and his unwavering commitment to making Saugeen Shores a better place for all. His contributions span numerous roles such as his service on Saugeen Shores Police Services Board, the Committee of Adjustment, the 25th Anniversary Ad-hoc Committee, Parks and Trails Committee and the Marine Heritage Society, to name just a few of the organizations that he has been, or still is, involved with. His belief in giving back to the community and his service inspires us all. We are proud to have you as a member of community and to celebrate this recognition for you today.”
O’Connor said that he was a life-long cottager in Saugeen Shores. “When I moved here 15 years ago, I made it a point to get involved in any way possible to make my community a better place and I really have played a small part. I was shocked when Mr. Lobb (MP) called me and said I had won this award. I am truly humbled. I am also delighted that the other recipients of this award in this municipality are equally deserving. I appreciate everyone’s support and this recognition.”
