A Rotary jazzy nite sets out to help save the Range Light

Friday the 13th was a lucky night for the Saugeen River Range Light when the Southampton Rotary Club hosted the virtual Jazz for the Light.

The night featured jazz and order-in meals from local restaurants to lend a ‘New Orleans’ flair for listening and fundraising at home.

The evening raised $14,500 for the Range Light Restoration Fund, which the Rotary Club donated on Friday, December 11th to the Marine Heritage Society.

The iconic Range Light has been battered by high lake levels, winds and waves and requires considerable restoration measures to help it survive.  Therefore, a major fundraising campaign has begun.

“This is an incredible donation,” says Vicki Tomori, Marine Heritage Society President, “and it will really help us to reach our goal.”

It is anticipated that the restoration will cost from $75,000 to $100,000.
