Cham-bettes Christmas Home Tour 2024: The Gallagher Home

The Gallagher Home
Rob and Michelle Gallagher
44 Pegasus Trail, Port Elgin

Twenty years ago, we embarked on an ambitious journey of buying, renovating, renting, and selling real estate while managing full-time careers and the responsibilities of raising a family and caring for aging parents.

This intense lifestyle cultivated a desire for change; we yearned to slow down and plan for the next stage of our life’s adventure – one that would allow us to enjoy our surroundings, remain active, and live by the water. After several years of searching amidst various challenges, we discovered our dream lot on Pegasus Trails which marked the beginning of an exhilarating new chapter.

The journey to find the perfect location was not without its hurdles, however, the culmination of our efforts has been richly rewarding. We meticulously designed our home based on a previous build in the Owen Sound area, incorporating unique details that reflect our personal style. Exquisitely crafted by Barry’s Construction, this residence is not just a house but a realization of our retirement aspirations.

Situated just off the shoreline of Lake Huron, our home offers luxury living. The spectacular lake views and breathtaking sunsets serve as daily reminders of the beauty surrounding us. With direct access to a meticulously maintained trail system by developer Brad Pryde, we have endless opportunities for all outdoor activities right at our doorstep. This combination of accessibility and natural beauty enhances both our physical well-being and overall quality of life.

Our spacious bungalow features impressive 12′ coffered ceilings and an open-concept layout designed for comfort and functionality. The main floor includes a bedroom with an ensuite bath, laundry facilities, and a kitchen equipped with a coffee bar and nine-foot island—truly the heart of our home. Collaboratively designed by us and handcrafted by Norm and his team at Wood & Wallworks, every detail reflects our vision for comfortable living.

The outdoors seamlessly integrates with indoor living through large windows overlooking nature’s beauty while maintaining privacy buffered by the towering trees at the rear.

The walkout basement adds further appeal with its hot tub, fireplace, wet bar, and two additional bedrooms – perfect for entertaining guests or family visits.

Since moving in during the summer of 2023, personalizing the interior has been an ongoing project that allows us to infuse even more character into this beautiful space we now call home.

We look forward to hosting you at the Christmas Tour of Homes.
