‘Kids Fishing Derby’ extravaganza makes memories across generations

There’s something new about the annual Bruce Peninsula Sportsmen’s Association (BPSA) “Kids Fishing Derby” this year.

We are asking participants aged 12 and under, to register with derby coordinator Mike Smith at mgsmithsold@gmail.com. Pre-registering gives us an idea of the number of folks who will attend and allow us to improve our management of this event. The 2019 BPSA Kids Fishing Derby awards and free lunch will follow the fishing action.

The fishing extravaganza kicks off May 25, 2019 at 9 am at the BPSA hatchery pond west of Wiarton. Action will run from 9am until 11. Bait and refreshments will be supplied by BPSA volunteers. This event is FREE and open to the public so bring your kids or grand kids. Make some memories and have some laughs. If you have your own rods and reels bring them. We also have some tackle available for use at this event.

This is always a memorable event especially for youngsters who have never fished. Our BPSA Kids Fishing Derby is a memory maker for everyone who takes part.

Sponsors for this BPSA youth event include the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, Lures N Lines Tackle Store, Cedar Crest Fish Farms, Coca Cola Bottling, Fritzes Value Mart, Wiarton Marina, and MPM Property Maintenance.

The BRUCE PENINSULA SPORTSMENS ASSOCIATION was established in 1962 to preserve and protect fish and wildlife.
