Lamont Sports Park campaign thermometer gets another boost

Just as the summer heat is making the thermometer rise, new donations are bringing on the heat for the Lamont Sports Park Illuminating Dreams Fundraising Campaign.

The campaign thermometer got a boost after receiving three $10,000 Home Run donations from:

  • Tracy Doll, Royal LePage D.C. Johnston Realty
  • The Caley Family
  • The Devils Ladies’ fastball team

Earlier in June, Meridian Credit Union in Port Elgin also donated a home-run of $10,000.

“This project is the result of multiple generations getting together to help”, says Vice Deputy Mayor and Campaign Co-Chair Mike Myatt. “Jim Caley grew up right next to the land where the park is located, while Tracy Doll brought her daughter to the cheque ceremony.  We know that facilities like the Lamont Sports Park are essential to building and maintaining healthy communities for years to come.”

The $10,000 entitles each donor to a banner at the park for five years, as well as a mention on the park’s Lifetime Donation Board.

The fundraising campaign seeks to raise monies for the construction of the Lamont Sports Park Phase 2.  This includes two youth baseball diamonds, and an accessible playground. The new construction will add to the four baseball diamonds built in Phase 1.
