Lisa Thompson reappointed as Huron-Bruce MPP Minister of Rural Affairs

Lisa Thompson was recently sworn in as a Member of the 44th Ontario Provincial Parliament for the riding of Huron-Bruce, and was reappointed by Premier Doug Ford, to serve as the Minister of Rural Affairs of Ontario.

“Being sworn in as the Member of Provincial Parliament for Huron-Bruce is both an honour and a responsibility I take very seriously. I am deeply grateful for the people of Huron-Bruce for placing their trust in me once again, and it is a privilege to represent everyone, our municipalities and local communities at the provincial level,” said Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce. “I am equally proud to continue serving as Minister of Rural Affairs. I remain committed to advocating for the needs of rural communities across the province, and ensuring that their voices are heard at Queen’s Park. Together, we will continue to build a strong and vibrant future for Ontario’s rural families, businesses, and communities,” she added.

In June 2024, Lisa was appointed Minister for the provincial government’s standalone Ministry of Rural Affairs, renewing focus on rural Ontario and the contribution’s rural Ontario provides to our province’s overall economy.

Minister Thompson will continue to work hard to improve the quality of life and economic capacity for Huron-Bruce communities, and continue to engage with other ministries for a prosperous and thriving future for rural Ontario. As a farmer and resident of a rural community, Minister Thompson understands the importance of ensuring that rural communities and small towns have every opportunity to succeed and are prepared for a changing world.

In January of 2025, Minister Thompson announced the Ministry of Rural Affairs’ new Rural Economic Development Strategy, directly focused on safe and strong rural communities, business development and attraction, and growing the rural workforce in Ontario. Lisa looks to continue building off her rural strategy, and to continue looking out for those residing in Huron-Bruce and across the province.
