One of the longest serving members of the Propeller Club, which was the start of the Marine Heritage Society, is Bill Moulton.
Moulton, along with a small group of senior residents of Southampton, set to work to restore the Chantry Island Lighthouse which today is a major tourist attraction for Southampton and surrounding area.
On July 26th, Moulton officially celebrated his 85th birthday but his friends at the Marine Heritage Society celebrated it at their weekly meeting on July 27th where members shared stories about him.
Even at 85, Bill Moulton is active and still working. He’s a greeter at the local Wal-Mart where he knows many of the customers by name.
In addition, he and wife, Bev, are avid volunteers with both the Marine Heritage Society and at Kingsway Arms of Elgin Lodge, a retirement home in Port Elgin. They volunteer at the Lodge helping out the ‘elderly’ throughout the week and at special events.
