The nomination process has begun for the October 24th election of Town Council and school trustees.
The Clerk’s office will accept nominations during normal business hours until Friday, August 19th at 2:00 p.m. for the following offices:
- Mayor
- Deputy Mayor
- Vice Deputy Mayor
- Two (2) councillors for each of the Port Elgin, Saugeen Township and Southampton Wards
- School Trustee for the Bluewater School Board
- School Trustee for the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board
Nominations forms are available at saugeenshores.ca/election. The prescribed filing fee is $200 for the Head of Council and $100 for all other offices. The filing fee is payable by cash, debit, certified cheque, or money order.
Nominations for an office on Council must also have an Endorsement of Nomination signed by at least 25 qualified electors. These electors must be eligible to vote in an election for an office within the municipality if a regular election were held on the day that the person endorses the nomination.
Candidates must sign the nomination and file it – in person or by an agent at the hours prescribed above. They can also e-mail election@saugeenshores.ca for questions, or if they require an appointment to file nomination papers.
