What a great month of November. Who would believe we would be golfing on November 17th in shorts?
The weather was also very good for the volunteers who took time out for another great Poppy Campaign. I would like to thank all the volunteers who helped not only with the canvassing but also the Admail Campaign and the money count at the end. It was also a good year for our Youth Education competition. A special thanks to Rhonda who took charge and coordinated both programs.
We also thank our Colour Party for the great job at the Tolmie Church Remembrance Sunday service, the annual Winterhawks Hockey puck-drop and the annual parade. At time of this writing the Colour Party will be participating in the Santa Claus parade. Great job to all!
It takes a lot of work to organize Remembrance Day. Thank you to the people who helped with the wreath set-up and take down at the cenotaph. Thanks to Pastor Dave Baker for his participation which also included the set-up of the sound system at the cenotaph and of course, Rev. Chuck Beaton, who provided the scripture reading on Remembrance Sunday.
I would be remiss if I didn’t thank Norma Dudgeon who coordinates the Remembrance Day events and all the behind-the-scene jobs this entails. Great job Norma!
We also received a flag with the names of the Canadian soldiers who we lost in Afghanistan. Brian, from Dennison Homes, graciously volunteered to frame it for us and did a great job. I invite you to come to the Branch and have a look.
Special thanks to Hailey Ashton for the Remembrance Day luncheon and for those who helped serve the meal.
Christmas is almost here. I hope you have time to drop off an unwrapped toy in our toy box, purchase some tickets for the annual Christmas Raffle or come to the Branch for one of the Meat Draws. Join us for a social time with friends old and new.
