SDSS students host a celebration of cultural diversity with a Cultural Fair

The students of Saugeen District Senior School (SDSS) are once again hosting their second annual Cultural Fair.

At their first annual fair in April 2024, students created displays from countries around the world that explained cultures, food, clothing styles, historical significance, geography and many other items of interest.

From the far north of Iceland to countries of India, Morocco, Scotland and more, some of the displays also included food samples native to each.

This year’s fair on April 10th, that will also be held in the SDSS school’s cafetorium, will run from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The time has been extended this year to allow for the community to attend during after school hours (3:30-5:30 PM).

Highlights of the fair this year include:

– Two food vendors: Dede’s Authentic African Kitchen and Nella’s Jerk
– Book display highlighting different cultures
– Food samples from the Food & Cultures class – $2 for 5!
– Various displays from community members and students from SDSS
– A photo booth opportunity
– Games and other activities – with chances to win prizes
The fair is an opportunity not only for school peers to learn about the countries where their fellow students come from or had visited, but also for the community to appreciate the diversity of cultures that are in the school.
Everyone, students and the community, are invited to the Fair.
