Dear Editor:
I recently wrote to our Council with respect to a delegation regarding the raising of the Irish flag in Saugeen Shores and want to share it with the community.

Dear Councillors,
I am bitterly disappointed and totally deflated that the council more or less waved aside Mary Foley’s excellent presentation yesterday evening.
Remember the Irish have been a major player in Canada from day one. In fact Canada may not have come into existence at all if the Fenians had not spurred the folks into action!!!!!
So, at last evening’s meeting (March 9), I felt that only one councillor stood away from the pack – John Divinski, and you cut him off!!
Do I have to contact Mark Carney to sort you all out? Maybe I should summon the ghost of Brian Mulroney (who will sing When Irish Eyes are Smiling) and if all that fails I will summon the ghosts of the Donnellys from Lucan to come to Saugeen Shores and you really don’t want that!!! Full disclosure, I’m related to the folks in that saga!
BUT FOR ME THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE DISCUSSION WAS WHEN THE DEPUTY MAYOR STATED HER G-GRANDPARENT WAS FROM TIPPERARY. Surely this qualifies her to be mayor!!! (Incidentally she is not on my email list}. Send this along to her if you wish…
