An exciting time when new math supplies arrive at Northport Elementary School

Northport Elementary Schools is growing by leaps and bounds with currently almost 500 students, that has brought it over capacity, using five portables and a prediction of adding another in the 2025 school year.

With the rise in student numbers, the demand for Math resources also increased.  “With the increase in student population, the school needs more manipulatives and resources to properly outfit the school and individual classrooms with math tools,” says teacher, Sandi Bennett. “Many items such as Canadian coins, paper money and two-sided counters, along with storage bins were needed.”

“We were so fortunate to receive funding from the Power Workers’ Union,” adds Bennett.  “We submitted a grant application and we were thrilled to receive $5,000 which enabled us to order the needed math supplies from the Canadian company Spectrum, along with organizational bins.”
