On May 14, Bruce Men’s Shed received a Certificate of Appreciation at the Paul Harris Award dinner hosted by the Rotary Club of Wiarton . As Team Leader, I was invited to attend and to accept this award.. Scott Elliot is a long-term member of Rotary International and has been a very active member with our Men’s Shed almost from the beginning. The list of achievements he talked about is quite long and varied in the activities we’ve taken on. In the presentation, Elliot said, “…the group is making a material impact on Men’s Mental Health by providing lots of opportunities for social interactions and working on projects for the benefit of the community.” Thank you Scott and Rotarians!
We also built a display cart for Parks Canada, and it will be used to educate visitors on a number of things on the trails within the park in Tobermory, more to follow. This was provided with financial support from Friends of the Bruce District Parks. The cart turned out great and the colour choice made it look even better!

On Saturday May 30th we are holding a free spring bicycle tuneup event at the Lions Head Farmers Market. A team of men will be on hand who can adjust gears, brakes, derailleurs, replace worn brake pads, straighten wobbly wheels, fix flats, lubricate chains and more. By donation. Stop by our booth and say hello.
Our next monthly meeting is Saturday June 20 from 9am-11am. Every Monday morning we meet for coffee from 9am-11am at Canadian Legion Branch 202, 6 Hellyer Road on Highway 6, 4 km north of Ferndale. Doors open at 8:45. There is also a Bruce Men’s Shed coffee gathering every Wednesday at 10 am in Wiarton at 451 Frank street, Matthew Mutch hosting. If you would like further information on how to get involved with the Men’s Shed movement, please contact us at brucemensshed@gmail.com or call Gerry at (519) 793–3005.
