Tomorrow, January 15th (2023), the 250-member conservation group Bruce Peninsula Sportsmen’s Association (BPSA) is hosting a quarterly meeting of the 11-thousand member Zone H of the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH).
Among the topics to be discussed will include Ottawa’s firearms rules and the group anticipates having a live feed with Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff from Ottawa with a Q&A on firearms.

Delegates from as far away as Orillia, Barrie and Kincardine are expected to attend. The meeting is expected to run from 10am-3pm at the BPSA clubhouse west of Wiarton. Lunch will be supplied. Donations accepted.
The Guest Speaker will be Natalie Mechalko, OFAH Next-General Ambassador and a University of Waterloo graduate with a degree in environmental studies, a minor in biology and diplomas in ecological restoration and environmental assessment. She is also a forestry and trails coordinator with Grey County.
“Growing up in rural Ontario, I spent most of my time outdoors mountain biking, rock climbing, skiing, paddling and fishing. With a background in fisheries and wildlife ecology, I took Hunter’s Education in an effort to further understand hunting as a management tool. Ever since I have been looking for opportunities to obtain experience with small game hunting and trapping – I participated in my first turkey hunt in 2021,” Mechalko said in her NXT-GEN profile.
There will be an OFAH member attendance incentive draw of $75.00 and the host club will have an additional prize draw where most attendees win a prize. Zone H OFAH extends on Lake Huron from Grand Bend north to Tobermory including the Bruce Peninsula and the eastern boundaries run from Orillia to Orangeville. These meetings attract people with a keen interest in conservation and outdoors recreation including hunting and fishing. A zone meeting is perhaps best described as “an information clearing-house” on all matters related to fishing, hunting and conservation. The meeting is open to the public.
