Cham-bettes Christmas Home Tour 2022: The Roberts Home

#6 – The Roberts Home
  52 Westlinks Drive, Port Elgin

It was while we were exploring retirement communities that we found our way to Southampton; we loved the quiet community and proximity to the beach. However, the home didn’t feel quite like ours and there were pieces missing preventing it from being our dream home for our retirement years.

The amenities and sense of community of the Westlinks development sparked our interest and we were inspired by the view and privacy of a ravine lot. With a talented designer, this house was designed with casual comfort in mind while celebrating our love for traditional moments. Built by Mark Berner, our custom home was brought to life and we moved in just over a year ago.

Soft neutral tones allow the abundance of nature in the backyard to draw the eye outdoors. There is a lower level walkout to a private patio. The patio and landscape design were completed by Outdoor Concepts; a space that has become a true extension of our living space and one we love to share with family and friends.

The covered front porch and entrance opens into an arched foyer to the great room. Arches were included in the design in the hallways from the kitchen as character features of the home. Custom built-ins and custom designed millwork surround the fireplace as the focal point in the great room. Our kitchen cabinets, island and custom range-hood by Exquisite Design are traditional in style with a modern approach. The custom stained white oak cabinet in the dining room is a favourite piece and adds warmth and depth to the off-white kitchen. The dining room table and the island stools are bespoke, handcrafted pieces designed for the space.

The principle suite includes garden doors leading to the expansive covered porch, an ensuite bath with a freestanding tub, a custom, furniture inspired, white oak vanity, tiled shower, and walk in closet. A private guest bedroom on the main floor has a beautiful view of the back yard. In the main bath, an oak vanity with a soapstone countertop was designed to elevate the space and show as a piece of custom furniture. The laundry room and pantry conveniently located off the mud room make for easy living and the oak staircase is open to the lower level, which will offer a generous family room, three bedrooms and a bathroom when completed.

Our designer, Britt Hartel, designed our home and brought it to life with carefully considered features, one of a kind customizations, quality finishes and beautiful fixtures.

The Roberts welcome you to their home.
