Deputy Mayor and Saugeen District Senior School (SDSS) teacher, Don Matheson cut the ribbon on Thursday morning, September 3rd, to officially open and recognize the recent Rainbow Crosswalk created at the school with funding from Bruce Power.
Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau thanked everyone for attending and also thanks Bruce Power for their support. “This is a symbol of hope and optimism in Saugeen Shores.”
Among the guests, was Fort Papalia of Kincardine Pride. “I am so proud to here and represent Kincardine Pride at this beautiful crosswalk unveiling. I taught here for many years at St. Joseph’ School and am very proud of this community for taking this initiative. Hopefully, we in Kincardine will be able to get our Rainbow crosswalk done very soon.” Papalia is the founder of the Kincardine Pride Parade which, due to COVI-19 was cancelled this year.
