The Rotary Club of Saugeen Shores is celebrating its fifth anniversary, marking five years of community service, collaboration, and connection since the club’s founding on January 5, 2021.
Launched during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic with 32 charter members, the club was created to reflect the evolving and diverse nature of Saugeen Shores. With a non-secular, informal approach and evening meetings designed to accommodate busy schedules, the Saugeen Shores Rotary Club quickly established itself as a modern and inclusive service organization focused on meaningful local impact.
Despite early challenges, the club gained momentum through strong volunteer engagement and community support. A five-year charter sponsorship from The Club at Westlinks played a pivotal role in helping the club get off the ground, enabling the purchase of essential equipment to support early fundraising initiatives. With support from the County Health Unit, the club also hosted the first public live event in Saugeen Shores during the pandemic.
Over the past five years, the Saugeen Shores Rotary Club has made significant contributions to the community, including a $100,000 pledge to Lamont Sports Park to support its accessible playground and a collaborative $50,000 pledge to the Pryde Aquatic & Wellness Centre alongside the Rotary clubs of Southampton and Port Elgin. The club has also partnered on initiatives such as youth STEM workshops, Shop with a Cop, the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, the Rotary Adventure Citizenship Program, and the Huron Shores Run, while independently supporting the Saugeen Shores Special Olympics.
In 2025, the club launched the inaugural Saugeen Shores Rotary Cricket Tournament in collaboration with the Saugeen Shores Cricket Club, bringing together more than 50 players and celebrating multiculturalism and community spirit through sport.
