A massive clean-up began on Wednesday from the severe storm that hit the Lake Huron shoreline in Saugeen Shores on Tuesday, September 7th.

Several roads remain closed as crews try to cope with the clean-up of downed and uprooted trees, many of which have impacted homes and properties.

One of the hardest hit areas with many trees destroyed was North Shore Park in Port Elgin (Saugeen Shores).  The tall stately trees that have made the park home for decades fell swiftly as the storm winds came in across Lake Huron.

In Southampton north of the Saugeen River, the area also lost many trees and power took longer to restore.

The owners of Lakeshore Recreation Centre in Port Elgin are devastated with the damage to their facility.  The roof of the centre was severely impacted as were the outdoor areas of The Pines centre and the courts used for tennis and pickle-ball.

The town is asking the cooperation of all residents and visitors as the clean-up continues.
