Summer at the Bruce County Museum – a happening place to be

On a hot steamy summer’s day, why not enjoy air-conditioned comfort at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre.

The Museum is abuzz with activities and exhibits all summer long.  On Mondays, it’s movie time and, on Wednesdays, it’s Summer Show time in the Bruce Power Theatre featuring incredible animals and fun for the whole family.

On the lower level is Disheveling! An ExtraordinHAIRY Exhibition!  Everything you always wanted to know about whiskers, fur, and hair … human and otherwise.  It’s a world of hairy creatures!

Marine history of Southampton is exciting and, standing on deck of the H.M.S. General Hunter, you can imagine what it was like to sail the Great Lakes during the war of 1812.

From the marine history, learn about the railway and how trains travelled throughout Bruce County stopping at each small rural community and visit the General Store, a mainstay in small towns in Bruce County.

Outside, stroll the grounds and explore the 1800s where a range light stands or visit the old schoolhouse where youngsters can take a step back in time and experience how pioneer children learned in a one-room school.

Whether it’s a hot summer’s day or one that’s rainy, the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre offers a respite from the weather with fun, interactive and hands-on activities for the whole family.
